Healthy Blueberry Smoothie

Hi Healthy Living Junkies!   This is Annie and Andrea and we have a delicious healthy blueberry smoothie recipe for you.  It’s our favorite blueberry smoothie recipe because not only does it taste amazing, it is incredibly good for you too! Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which is has all kinds of health benefits including cancer fighting properties, is heart healthy, and well as improves your complexion.  Beauty in a cup?  Sign us up!  Flax seed is a healthy fat and aids in digestions, and the protein powder feeds your muscles.  Bananas are a healthy carb and is also high in fiber and nutrients.  Coconut milk is a great substitute for cow’s milk, is easier to digest and is also lactose free and has a rich creamy taste.

 

 

Healthy Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients – 2 servings – Just half the recipe for one  =)

1 cup of blueberries (frozen or fresh, we used frozen)
1 banana
1 cup of coconut milk
1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla or unflavored)
2 teaspoons of flax seed (grounded)
Stevia (to taste)

 

 

Take all the ingredients and put it into a blender.  Blend for 10-15 seconds.  Pour in a cup and enjoy!  =) Try out our Blueberry smoothie and tell us what you think!  Better yet, show us your pictures!

Why Positive Thinking Is Good For Your Health

Hi Healthy Living Junkies!  Is your glass half-empty or half-full?  Having a glass half-full attitude has been shown to positively affect your health and well-being.  Positive thinking is good for you health.  In fact, personality traits like optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your life, including longer lifespan, decrease rate of depression, greater resistance to common cold, reducing risk of cardiovascular disease, as well as stress management.  Having a positive attitude can lead to more effective stress management too.
 


 
Even if you are a glass half-empty person, you can train yourself to think more positively. Positive thinking starts with self-talk or that little voice in your head.  When you look in the mirror, what do you think of your reflection?  Does that little voice in your head say, “You look so fat in those jeans” or  “Wow, I look great today.”  These thoughts can either going to make you feel good about yourself or bad about your self.  When you find yourself thinking anything negative, try changing it into a positive by finding something positive about the situation.  While you may not be able to control the situation, you can control your thoughts on it.  Eating a healthy diet also helps with positivity because you are at your best when you get enough nutrients.  Eating foods that are high in nutrients are also great for weight loss.   Check out this short video to learn more.
