Hi Healthy Living Junkies! Living a healthy lifestyle has its ups and downs. There are days when I have no motivation to get up to go to the gym. Once I get to the gym, I always have a good workout, but getting there is the hardest part. Sometimes, the hardest part is getting started. Once you start, the momentum builds and it becomes easier and easier. Just like a habit takes 30 days to develop, it is the process that is the hardest. Once you get started on the process and develop a habit, the rest is easy. Here is one of my favorite Motivational Quotes to help motivate me and keep me on track with my healthy lifestyle.
“The miracle isn’t that I finished.
The miracle is that I had the courage to start.”
Don’t worry about not knowing what the next step is. It will all work itself out. All you have to do is have the courage to start, and the rest will follow. When it comes to staying healthy, working out, and getting in shape, all you have to do is to have the courage to take the initiative to start. It can be as little as eating an apple instead of a bag of chips with lunch or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. What is important is that you started. I hope you guys enjoyed the motivational fitness quotes. I know they always help me on the days when I am feeling tired or lazy. It motivates me to get squeeze a quick workout in on days I don’t feel like going. What are you favorite inspirational or motivational fitness quotes? Hi Healthy Living Junkies! Can stress cause weight gain? You bet! Whether your having problems at work, fighting with a spouse, or dealing with financial issues, stress can take a heavy physical toll on the body. Not only does it increase your heart rate and breathing, getting you ready for “fight or flight” mode, but it also causes weight gain as well. In this video, I’ll go over why reducing stress is good for your overall health, which includes keeping a healthy body weight.
When you are stressed, your body reacts the same way as it did in the cave man days. Your body prepares you for fight or flight mode, like it would if you were encountering a Mammoth. Even though our society has evolved, our brain has not and our body is still reacting the same way it would back then. “While the immediate . . . response to acute stress can be a temporary loss of appetite, more and more we are coming to recognize that for some people, chronic stress can be tied to an increase in appetite — and stress-induced weight gain,” says Elissa Epel, PhD, an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco. Therefore, learning how to reduce stress in your life will help you become happier while shrinking your waistline too. When I am stressed, I go for a walk with my dog without my cell phone and get lost in nature. This helps me get a new perspective on the issue and helps me relax. What is your favorite way to relax?
