Easy Avocado Toast And Egg Breakfast

 Breakfast is one of my favorite meals because it is easy to make, and most important meal of the day. Starting the day off right gives me the energy to going as well as gives me the will power to ward off junk food. I love making avocado toast. It is such an easy dish to make and has such a beautiful presentation. Plus, everybody I have ever made it for loves it.
Ingredients: 1 servings
12-15 minutes
1/2 avocado
1 egg
1/3 cup of mushrooms, sliced
1/4 cup greens like spring mix or micro greens
1-2 slices of sourdough bread
2 tablespoon butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Heat up the pan with 1 tbsp butter and fry the egg while you toast the bread. Slice the avocado. Put the toasted bread on the plate and covered with avocado slices. Put the egg on top of the avocado or if you are using two pieces of bread, put the egg on the other piece of bread. Add the other tablespoon of butter in the pan with the mushrooms and sauté from 4-6 minutes until cooked. Garnish to plate with greens and mushrooms and add salt and pepper to taste.

Healthy Blueberry Smoothie

Hi Healthy Living Junkies!   This is Annie and Andrea and we have a delicious healthy blueberry smoothie recipe for you.  It’s our favorite blueberry smoothie recipe because not only does it taste amazing, it is incredibly good for you too! Blueberries are high in antioxidants, which is has all kinds of health benefits including cancer fighting properties, is heart healthy, and well as improves your complexion.  Beauty in a cup?  Sign us up!  Flax seed is a healthy fat and aids in digestions, and the protein powder feeds your muscles.  Bananas are a healthy carb and is also high in fiber and nutrients.  Coconut milk is a great substitute for cow’s milk, is easier to digest and is also lactose free and has a rich creamy taste.

 

 

Healthy Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients – 2 servings – Just half the recipe for one  =)

1 cup of blueberries (frozen or fresh, we used frozen)
1 banana
1 cup of coconut milk
1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla or unflavored)
2 teaspoons of flax seed (grounded)
Stevia (to taste)

 

 

Take all the ingredients and put it into a blender.  Blend for 10-15 seconds.  Pour in a cup and enjoy!  =) Try out our Blueberry smoothie and tell us what you think!  Better yet, show us your pictures!

Hi Healthy Living Junkies!  With all this talk about health and proper nutrition, it is hard not be confused by all the information out there.  So what is the best way to eat and be healthy?  You can lose weight by eating small meals.  One of the easiest things you can do to improve your eating habits is to eat 4-6 meals every few hours.  If losing weight is your goal, this will help you melt the extra body fat.  If you are trying to develop better eating habits, this will optimize your body so it will use calories more efficiently.

How can I lose any weight if I eat twice the amount of meals a day?  Just remember these are not full size meals.  By eating little meals more frequently, you will boost your metabolism and reduce fat storage, losing weight in the process.  Make sure to include plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, legumes, and protein in each meal.  Healthy fats, like almonds, will also you feel full as well as keeping you healthy.  This is a proven fact that muscle-builders, fashion models, athletes, and thin people generally follow – you should give it a try as well.   Certain combinations of food create your body’s OPTIMAL FAT BURNING ZONE, causing it to decrease body fat quickly and effectively and losing the unwanted weight.

Did you know that you will burn more calories each day when you eat breakfast?  Consuming the proper foods once you wake up is critical when breaking the fast your body goes into nightly.  Approximately 3-4 hours after you eat your body shuts down, your metabolism behaves as though it is required to store food.  This is a great function to possess if a shortage erupts and you do not see food for a long period of time.  After all, if there is a shortage you’re going to need your body to work “efficiently” by stashing away fat, and burning it as little as possible.  Because there’s no food shortage or famine at the time being (and more than likely wont be one in the near future) then it’s pretty irritating when your body begins loading up on the pounds.  So, how do you get your body to restart the fat burning process?  Simple.  Eat breakfast.  Eating breakfast communicates with your body that it is time to start using calories and  reprogramming your metabolism, losing weight and body fat in the process.
