Want to know the secret to weight loss success? It has nothing to do with what you eat or how you exercise; It has to do with how you think. Your mind is a very powerful tool. Believing you can lose the weight and having a positive attitude makes a HUGE difference on whether you are successful or not. Of course, eating the right types of foods and exercising is important to your success. But in order to stay on track, mental commitment and a positive attitude is key.
Many people will decide to get in shape and go with a very rigid diet program and exercise regime. The problem is, because these diets and exercise programs are so hard to stay on, you will always end up giving in to temptation. What happens to your mind after eating that cookie or do nut? Unfortunately for most people, you get so upset that it is common to just give up and eat the whole box, since the “diet’ is now ruined.
“You can go as far as you want to.”
The key to getting in shape is to understand that life happens. Lose weight and staying in shape is a marathon, not a sprint. If you have a bad eating day, or skip a workout, this does not make you a failure, or ruins your goal. The key is to have the mental strength to love yourself no matter what, and honor the commitment to take better care of your body and your health. Train your mind to stay positive and believe you will succeed and you will. Thanks for reading and make it a great year!
Is sugar the new drug? It’s white, powdery, and deadly. Your body craves it and when you take it, you want more and more. No I am not talking about cocaine; I am talking about sugar, the other white drug. Sugar is bad because you crave it like a narcotic, giving the body a “high” or “sugar rush” as it hits your blood stream. Just like a drug, sugar makes you feel good, giving you instant energy, and then once the sugar level in your blood stream drops, you start to crash, and you end up wanting more sugar. What are the side effects of sugar? We all know why eating sugar is bad for you, but besides obesity and weight gain, did you know sugar can cause heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and even death? Let’s take a closer look at why sugar is bad for you.
Sugar is converted glucose in the body, which the body needs, but only in moderation. Any excess sugar or glucose is stored as fat in the body. Some excess fat can be seen, such as an expanding waistline or fat hanging off your arms, thighs, back, and chin. Other areas where fat is stored you cannot see, which is surrounding your vital organs, which can be fatal with time. Consuming too much sugar is directly linked to type 2 diabetes. In fact, experts say over half of school-aged children will have type 2 diabetes by the time they are 18 years old due to a diet of sugary foods and drinks. Additionally, obesity increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and other fatal illnesses.
What is considered sugar? The obvious answer is to avoid eating anything sweet. What most people don’t realize is white bread, rice, and other refined carbohydrates are also converted into sugar (glucose) in the body. In fact, the affects of eating refined carbohydrates are the SAME as eating sugary foods. Avoid sugary foods as well as refined carbs. Instead, eat foods with natural sweeteners like fruits, or use natural sugar substitutes like Stevia, which is plant based. Choose unrefined carbs such as brown rice, barely, steel cut oats, quinoa, and whole grains.
Make sure you also include healthy fats in your diet, as well as fiber. You will be astonished by how much fat you will shed once your body rids itself of the excess fat due to the all the sugar. To learn more about the types of foods your should eat for healthy weight management, click here.

Hi Healthy Living Junkies! Can you lose 20 pounds in 1 month by not eating sugar? Hi, I’m Annie, and I’ll go over why eating sugar is bad for you and causing you to gain weight. I’ll go over what foods have sugar hidden in it and how to avoid them.
How to Lose 20 Pounds in 1 Month
Rule #1: Read the nutrition label and avoid anything with sugar as the first few ingredients
Rule #2: Avoid white foods like white bread, pasta, and white potatoes
Rule #3: Eat unprocessed foods that are high in fiber, at least 5 grams of fiber per serving
Hi Healthy Living Junkies! There is a common misconception “skinny” is sexy. For most women, including myself at one time, the ideal figure is a skinny figure, with a flat stomach, arms that doesn’t jiggle, and fat free legs. I was scared to lift weights, because I “didn’t want to look like a guy”. Instead I would hit the cardio machine, running on the treadmill, hitting the elliptical, and using the “girly” weights, avoiding anything that was, in my mind, exercise for men. It took me years to realize my mistake.
When I finally started to weight train because I wasn’t getting the results I wanted, I realized all of my fears and misconceptions about lifting weights were wrong. I started seeing my body become stronger, my stomach was flatter, and my body fat was decreasing. I ate the same types of foods I always ate: Lean cuts of protein, fresh vegetables and fruits, and complex unprocessed carbohydrates. But now instead of having a “pancake” butt, I had curves on my glutes, and was finally able to fill out my jeans.
Weight Training for Women
Get sexy and feminine curves without the fear of building bulk
When a woman weight train, she builds soft round curves to her body, the feminine type of curves. Her stomach will be flat, because muscles use more calories (energy) to sustain, increasing your metabolism. From doing biceps and triceps exercises, a woman’s arms will be firm and will not jiggle, rocking that spaghetti tank top or strapless cocktail dress. Her legs will develop shape, giving you the desirable “hour glass shape”. For most women, the problem area, her butt will be firmer, and there will be minimal fat on her legs. And as far as looking like a guy? It will not happen. A woman’s body is designed differently than a man’s. We do not have as much testosterone as a man, so you will not get “big” like a man. You will achieve the sexy bikini look, with toned arms, flat abs, and a round fuller butt. So go ahead and grab the weighs. You won’t regret it. =)

Hi Healthy Living Junkies! Do you use sugar substitutes? Want to know which are the best sugar substitutes? Here are some of the best sugar substitutes I’ve have found! We have all heard by now that white table sugar is unhealthy. Let’s explore some best sugar substitutes and where they come from. As you know, white sugar spikes up our blood sugar, which is the sugar high we experience, but leaves us feeling even more tired and craving more sugar. It also causes us to eat more foods with sugar, similar to the effects a drug would have. Instead of eating sugar, try some of these healthy sugar substitutes which will still give you sweetness but without the harmful effects. Here are some of the best sugar substitutes I found.
Best Sugar Substitutes
Stevia – Made from leaves of a stevia plant. This natural sweetener has 0 calories. It tastes like white sugar, with a tiny bitter after taste. It sweetens without adding calories. This is my absolute favorite sugar substitute. Keep in mind besides Stevia, the rest of the natural sweetener sugar substitutes contain about as much calories as regular sugar, so go easy on it.
Coconut Sugar – Made from Sap of coconut tree. It is 15 calories per tsp. It taste like brown sugar. It is less likely than regular sugar to cause a big spike in blood sugar.
Agave Nectar – Made from Agave plant. It is 20 calories per tsp. The darker nectar taste like maple syrup; the lighter hued variety is more like sugared water. It is sweeter than sugar, so you can use less.
Sucanat – Made from dehydrated sugar cane juice. It is 15 calories per tsp and taste like molasses. It contains more minerals and less blood sugar spiking sucrose than white sugar.
